Typical key risks could include:
Cover in case a service user makes a claim after suffering an injury at the Shed. This can also provide cover if your Shed operates on third party premises and the property owner seeks compensation for and damage done to the building.
Protects the tools and equipment you use in your Shed against loss, theft or damage – so you can minimise the disruption to your service offering if something were to happen to your equipment.

FAQs
We have made the initial process very easy and quick, all we need to know ti get started is:
- General details of the men's shed (location, name, contact details etc.)

- How many sessions you have and how many attend these on average
- The replacement value of your equipment
- Total number of volunteers
- Your annual income
All charities are subject to risks, and insurance serves as a suitable method for safeguarding your charity against any loss, damage, or liability. This encompasses buildings insurance, contents insurance, and event insurance.
Additionally, there are further types of insurance required to protect against a charity’s liabilities to third parties. These include Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, and Employers' Liability insurance if you have staff or volunteers. We also advise considering Trustee Liability Insurance and Business Interruption Insurance.
If you own or occupy land or buildings, or run fundraising events, the Government advises you to take out Public Liability insurance. This offers protection against legal claims from anyone who is injured or whose property is lost or damaged as a result of your activities. Some venues may require you to have this insurance in place, and you may be able to get cover against the cancellation of an event due to bad weather.
Professional Indemnity insurance can cover the cost of compensating clients for loss or damage resulting from negligent services or advice provided by your organisation.
Legally, if your charity has employees, then you are required to have a minimum of £5 million in cover to safeguard your charity against claims for injuries incurred by individuals in the course of their work for you.
This insurance must be purchased from an authorised insurer, and your charity must prominently display the insurance certificate at your premises. Failing to have Employers' Liability Insurance when it is required can result in a fine of £2,500 for every day you are without it.
It's also important to ensure that this insurance extends to volunteers working for your charity, providing them with the necessary protection
With us, the definition of an employee also includes volunteers.
Therefore if a volunteer is injured as a result of their work for you and your organisation is held liable, there may be cover under the Employers' Liability section of the policy for any resulting claims for damages.
Trustee Liability insurance is designed to cover the expenses associated with defending your trustees against accusations of misconduct, including legal proceedings related to disqualification or extradition.
Business Interruption insurance offers protection in situations where you must halt operations, thereby affecting your charity's revenue. This can occur in various scenarios, such as if your premises were to experience flooding.
